چکیده

When spacecrafts dock with each other, impact will rise at the docking point. It is assumed in this paper that a docking platform having the shape of Stewart platform is attached at the one of the docking spacecrafts to reduce the effect of impact. Although the impact between two spacecrafts at the contact point of the upper plate of the platform is very large, the impact is absorbed by the docking platform and the negligible impact is just transmitted to the spacecraft. To show this, the modeling of the internal impulses at the joints of multi-body system is introduced and the internal impulses of the docking platform are analyzed by the modeling method.

Automatic Spacecraft Docking Using Computer Vision-Based Guidance and Control Techniques

An innovative approach to automatic spacecraft docking using a computer vision-based control system is introduced. Precision control of the relative spacecraft velocity is required to achieve "soft" docking with a docking platform on a space station or on another spacecraft. We propose use of a computer vision system as a position and orientation sensor for obtaining feedback information used b...

Near-Minimum Time Optimal Control of Flexible Spacecraft during Slewing Maneuver

The rapid growth of space utilization requires extensive construction, and maintenance of space structures and satellites in orbit. This will, in turn, substantiate application of robotic systems in space. In this paper, a near-minimum-time optimal control law is developed for a rigid space platform with flexible links during an orientating maneuver with large angle of rotation. The time opti...

A 5-dof Experimental Platform for Autonomous Spacecraft Rendezvous and Docking

In this paper we describe a new experimental facility at the School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech that will allow realistic testing of spacecraft autonomous rendezvous and docking (ARD) maneuvers. The previous 3-DOF Integrated Attitude Control System (IACS) was modified and upgraded to a new 5-DOF Spacecraft Simulator for Autonomous Rendezvous and Docking (SSARD) facility by adding t...

Study on Synthetic Evaluation of Human Performance in Manually Controlled Spacecraft Rendezvous and Docking Tasks

Abstact: Manually Controlled Spacecraft Rendezvous and Docking (MCRVD) is a complex and demanding task which requires astronauts to performe accurate control of the spacecraft in six-degree-of-freedom by hand. The purpose of this study is to measure the human performance in these tasks and to propose a mathematical model to evaluate MCRVD performance quantitatively.A ground simulated RVD platfo...
